Eyes Closed in Prayer

Abstract Image of The Master

Concentrate on the 4 dots in the middle
of the picture for about 30 seconds.

Then close your eyes and tilt your head back.

Keep them closed. You will see a circle of light.

Continue looking at the circle...
WHAT DO YOU SEE?

There doesn't seem to be a biblical reference for praying with eyes closed.

However, prayer is a form of worship. The first recorded prayer with a bowed head (and probably with eyes closed) occurred when the Lord led Abraham's servant in his quest to find a Canaanite wife for Isaac.

"Then I bowed my head and worshiped the LORD. I praised the LORD, the God of my master, Abraham, because he had led me along the right path to find a wife from the family of my master's relatives." (Gen 24:48)

Bowing one's head, kneeling, laying prostrate, and praying with eyes closed, are all forms of worship which signify an attitude of submission, respect, honor, and praise for God.

Many of us are subconsciously hoping for an image... a glimpse of God... as we pray with our eyes closed. Some have testimonies of having seen an image that remains with them and comforts them each time they close their eyes.

The image above is abstract enough so that everyone will see their own version of the image when they close their eyes.

Maybe this will become the image that you see when you close your eyes to pray and worship God, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
